What is biofeedback?

Biofeedback has been shown to help reduce the impact of the symptoms of ADHD. Biofeedback for ADHD is an evidence-based game that measures and improves brain activity. It works by altering the brain waves whilst playing the biofeedback games such as Neurofeedback.

The process of using the game enables people with ADHD to gain greater awareness of their natural bodily reactions, to become more aware of tension, heart rate, and brainwaves. This helps to improve concentration and organisation.

Why should biofeedback be used?

Biofeedback has been shown to have long-lasting effects. At ADHD Team, we believe in evidence-based interventions. Biofeedback has been scientifically researched and tested to ensure that it is appropriate for the treatment of ADHD.

Biofeed can be useful to help people with:

Who can use biofeedback?

Our biofeedback interventions are appropriate for children and adults with ADHD. The neurofeedback game helps to reduce the impact of the symptoms of ADHD for all ages, mean anyone can play.

Who is it provided by?

Our team of ADHD nurses uses biofeedback as an alternative to therapy. Biofeedback is an option for interventions which may be more appropriate for your specific situation. Our biofeedback therapists are certified in this approach to ensure you are receiving effective treatment.

What happens during biofeedback?

A Biofeedback device measures brain activity and electrical signals from the muscles. The game then transforms the signals into something which the patient can sense. This could be through hearing, seeing, or when the muscles are tensed. A patient with ADHD would slowly become more aware of their bodies natural reactions. The game encourages patients to create relaxing techniques for themselves, which may help in reducing tension, restlessness, or frustration tolerance.
